Field Instructor Training
CSWs and SCSWs who are assigned interns to supervise must complete 15 hours of training in order to be certified as a DCFS Field Instructor.
UCLA and their university partners have collaborated to develop six hours of online training (approved for six hours of Continuing Education Units), one three-hour introductory instructor-led training, and a final six-hour applied learning instructor-led training.
In addition to these certification trainings, the university partners worked collaboratively to develop two additional enhancement trainings for field instructors – Enhanced Field Instructor Training- Exploring & Integrating Strategies for Field Instruction. The three and four hour half-day sessions are intended for those already certified as Field Instructors to explore and integrate coaching strategies when working with their interns.
