CSW Foundation Academy

The CSW Academy blends e-Learning, instructor-led training, facilitated skill labs, individual and group work exercises and assignments, office days, and simulation exercises.

Evaluation of the Academy includes a demographic survey, pre- and post-academy self-assessments, pre- and mid-level tests, end-of-class and embedded evaluations in key modules as noted below, individual trainee evaluations of each presentation, and an overall Academy evaluation by each trainee. Academy modules include 100 Level California Common Core 3.0 (CC3.0) modules and field activities mandated for all new social workers employed in public child welfare agencies that must be completed within their first year of hire.

The Academy is facilitated by DCFS and University anchor-leads to model the relationship between agency and university at DCFS University. Instructors for individual modules within the Academy come from DCFS, CSULB, USC, UCLA, County Counsel, Law Enforcement, Mental Health, and other community partner agencies.
